EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

Are you are anxious, depressed, stressed and struggling to cope? Are you feeling that old issues and feelings are overwhelming you? As an EMDR Practitioner, I can help with these unmanageable feelings. In an initial session we can discuss your problems, your goals and work out a treatment plan.

I offer EMDR and we target specific traumatic experiences and symptoms. A large body of neuroscience research has found that working at a subcortical level, using EMDR, effectively reprocesses experiences that are stuck in your body and your nervous system. After EMDR you are likely to feel much less dys-regulated – your mind and body feel more regulated and balanced so you can begin to enjoy life again.

Anxiety, depression or panic all stem from past traumatic experiences. If you are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, anger, low self-esteem, fear or guilt then it might be helpful to speak to an experienced EMDR psychotherapist. I have over 23 years as a psychotherapist and the last 8 years I have specialised in EMDR. I’m an EMDR Accredited Practitioner and am working towards EMDR Consultant status.

Maybe you are having nightmares, flashbacks or intrusive thoughts with vivid images and sensations. Or perhaps the opposite is happening and you are feeling numb, switched off or not really connected to people around you.

Repeatedly feeling like this takes its toll on your capacity to cope on your own or within your regular support network. It may be that working with a professional EMDR trauma therapy specialist will help you get to the roots of the problem and resolve them.

EMDR is an evidence-based treatment that is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) for PTSD.  It is a highly specialised treatment that should only be practiced by qualified and experienced EMDR practitioners.

What else can EMDR be used for?

EMDR can be used for phobias, shame, stress, sleep difficulties, grief, pain, performance anxiety, bereavement, sexual assault, bullying, medical or health experiences, transport accidents and childhood abuse or neglect.
