About Me

I’m an EMDR Consultant and I offer EMDR Therapy if you have anxiety, depression, PTSD, work related stress amongst other difficulties. I specialise in working with trauma.

The way I’ve come to understand trauma is in a psychological sense. Trauma is unprocessed feelings connected to an experience.

Just to make that clearer, experiencing our emotions or expressing our emotions, is not as helpful to us as processing our emotions and feelings! That’s what EMDR has enabled us to understand.

Sadly, the bigger the backlog of unprocessed feeling in us, the more likely we are in the present to feel overwhelmed, anxious, depressed or as though we can’t cope.

Constantly feeling anxious, regularly resorting to rumination, or even collapsing under the weight of exhaustion, are all signs something old is probably stuck in us.

What I love about doing EMDR, is helping you reprocess your distressing feelings, so that finally they’re in the past.

During processing, the brain strips away the distress using eye movement. It’s the difference between remembering a memory, but you no longer experiencing the memory. Consequently your brain has more capacity, to deal with the present.

I work in Lewes and online using Zoom.

Testimonials

I sought EMDR to help me manage a troubling life experience which was impacting on my life in ways I was struggling to manage, and I'd heard that this form of therapy could help. Sarah was welcoming and informative in the initial session, and supported me through some psycho-education to understand my feelings and responses. She felt like a safe pair of hands. After a few sessions of EMDR, in which we systematically worked through my memories of troubling events, I noticed that I was significantly less impacted by intrusive thoughts and memories, and more emotionally regulated. I would recommend…
